Samurai Shodown Tam Tam

The coronavirus outbreak has been something that’s had a huge impact on the gaming industry. One of the major industry conferences has been postponed indefinitely because of it, and if things don’t change, probably even more things will have to canceled and postponed. The hope is that the outbreak will eventually be contained, and after that, SNK is planning to expand their revived Samurai Shodown franchise.

In an interview with DualShockers, Lead Producer Yaduyuki Oda talked about the future of the fighting game. He hopes to eventually expand it in similar fashion to the likes of Tekken 7 or Street Fighter 5 with fighting tournaments and more constant presence at fighting-focused events such as EVO. But as he clarifies, “after the coronavirus is contained,” being clear that anything like that will have to come out after this crazy outbreak is over.

Samurai Shodown is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and Google Stadia. It’s currently in its second season of characters that are being released now.
