Publisher and developer SNK have slowly been teasing their latest title in the long running fighting game franchise, Samurai Shodown. Last week we got a look at one of the brand new characters, Darli Dagger, and this week we’re back to a returning character with the doctor samurai, Ukyo Tachibana.

Ukyo was first introduced in the original Samurai Shodown in 1993. Since then he’s been a longstanding member of the roster, being in most of the titles released under the banner (much like the first character to get an introduction trailer, Nakoruru). He is a doctor that has contracted tuberculosis and is in search of a cure. You can see from the trailer below that he wields fire, and uses an apple to cheekily parry attacks. He also has a host of women chasing after him, though Ukyo only has eyes for one woman, even in his dying days.

Samurai Shodown will release June 27th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in Q4 2019 for Switch, and on PC at a undetermined later date. There’s also a NeoGeo Collection coming for those who want to catch up on the series.
