Sea of Thieves’ Next Story Update, “Shores of Gold,” Gets New Trailer

The story driven expansion is part of a free update.

We’ve known for a long time that Sea of Thieves is getting a big update at the end of the month, as the game’s developer, Rare, has slowly been teasing bits and pieces of it. One thing they haven’t said a lot about is the story expansion that comes along with it. Well, today, they’ve released a trailer for the story-driven part of the update, titled “Shores of Gold.”

The trailer, which you can check out below, doesn’t give a lot of details about what the plot is, but does tease what seems to be a grand treasure hunt filled with ghosts and traps. They’ve said before to expect 10-20 hours worth of story content. Considering it will come free along with a new fishing mode and PvP mode, it’s quite the significant update for the game’s one year anniversary.  

Sea of Thieves is available now for Xbox One and PC, and the update will launch for all players free of charge on April 30th.
