After initially appearing for pre-order on Steam, From Software has officially confirmed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will release on March 22nd 2019. The hack and slash title is available for pre-order on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well.

Set during the Sengoku era in Japan, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice follows an old samurai protecting his young lord. When the latter is kidnapped by a mysterious samurai and our hero’s arm is lopped off, a journey of vengeance begins. Thus far, Sekiro has showcased more speed and movement options than Dark Souls and Bloodborne, From Software’s earlier works.

On top of a prosthetic arm that hides trick weapons and serves as a grappling hook, the game also allows players to resurrect and get the drop on enemies. Other ninja abilities, stealth, and much more are promised, though director Hidetaka Miyazaki believes resurrection could actually make the game tougher.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is among the games playable at Activision’s booth during Gamescom 2018, so expect more footage and impressions in the coming week.
