Shenmue 1 and 2 HD

Sega has released a new trailer for Shenmue 1 and 2 HD, the upcoming HD compilation of the original two games in Yu Suzuki’s pioneering and groundbreaking action RPG series, that launches ahead of Shenmue 3 to catch players up with the story.

This brand new trailer walks us through an introduction of the characters who are players in the Shenmue saga, presented by none other than Corey Marshall, the English voice actor for series protagonist Ryo Hazuki. Of course, we get a lot of gameplay footage too (fans are sure to recognize some iconic scenes from the first two games and feel pangs of nostalgia)- and while these games now look their age, you do appreciate how well they have held up, given that they are almost twenty years old each at this point.

If you haven’t played Shenmue ever (or not since the games first came out), this collection will be your best bet at seeing why the franchise is so beloved at all. Shenmue 1 and 2 HD Collection launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 21. Recently, it received a Japanese release date as well. Meanwhile, last week’s trailer for the game briefly recapped the stories of the first two games. Watch it through here.
