The PC version of Shenmue 3 has been surrounded by controversy. First came the announcement of the Epic Games Stores exclusivity, something that always brings the heat, and then the fact that backers would not be getting the preorder bonuses or season pass (that also extends to the PS4 release). Well, there may be a lot of mixed feelings about all that in the air, but those who still need the return of the series will get a chance to test it out next month.

Announced via the official website, a trial version of the game will come to PC backers. It will feature a standalone act that’s estimated to be roughly an hour in length in the game’s first area, which you can replay indefinitely to check out all the various activities. It will also include a PDF play guide. However, progress in the trial version will not carry over to the full game.

Shenmue 3 will release November 19th, and the Backer Trial Version will launch in the second half of September. It will be through the Epic Games Store.
