Shenmue 3 is currently in the final hours of its crowd-funding campaign and has already crossed $5 million in funding. However, at this stage, it’s unconfirmed whether the Yu Suzuki-directed sequel will ever wind up on store shelves in a physical retail release.
Speaking to VG247 over email, Ys Net clarified that with regards to the Special Backer Edition being available after the Kickstarter is over, “Whether Shenmue 3 will be available for retail or not is currently unconfirmed.”
The Special Backer Edition offers a physical PS4 copy for those who pledge $60. Of course, the issue here is that some people might want to wait till the game actually releases and the reception it receives before actually investing any money.
Any news regarding a retail release will be provided on Kickstarter but as of now, there’s no indication that it will be happening any time soon. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know in the comments below.
