Shenmue 2 famously ended on a hell of a cliffhanger, which left the fate of Ryo and his quest for revenge up in the air. With Shenmue 3 not being a thing for over a decade after that, fans were left wondering where the story might have gone, until, finally, against all odds, Yu Suzuki announced Shenmue 3 a few years ago. Time for closure now, right?
Well, no. In a couple of new interviews (via Resetera), Yu Suzuki discussed the vision for the story that he has in mind, confirming that the story as he has envisioned it will not be ending in Shenmue 3. As a result, the game will have an open ending that leaves a sequel open. So, you know- you better hope this one sells enough for Shenmue 4 to be a thing.
As for Shenmue 3– it is due out later this year (for now). It will be coming to PS4 and PC.
