Shuhei Yoshida on inFamous Dev’s Next Game: “They Aren’t Making Movies”

"It is now very narrow."

Infamous: Second Son

Several days after Sony’s E3 presser, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SIE, addressed some developers that were missing from the line-up. This included Sucker Punch which developed inFamous: Second Son for the PS4 and was working on an unannounced new IP. Yoshida noted that he had played this new IP several times.

Speaking on GameSpot’s stage for E3, Yoshida reiterated the same comment and seemed to hesitate when giving out more information. His full statement essentially says, “I have played many, many more times of such game; and every time I play…I shouldn’t be talking any more. It is a game. They are not making movies. It is now very narrow.”

What does “very narrow” mean in this context? Could it be that Sucker Punch has nailed the focus of the game down and development is progressing smoothly? It’s hard to say really but given how announcements were held back from Sony’s E3 presser, we may learn more in the coming months.
