Bloober Team and Konami’s upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2 has attracted plenty of skepticism since its announcement a couple of years ago, and though there certainly have been plenty of legitimate reasons for that, it’s also undeniable that more recent gameplay showings have painted a more encouraging picture of the survival horror title. Now, with Silent Hill 2’s release drawing closer, Bloober Team’s CEO Piotr Babieno has asked players to give the game “a chance”.

Speaking in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Babieno acknowledged the skepticism that many have viewed the upcoming remake with, before adding that Bloober Team is hoping to let its work do its talking.

“I am dreaming that gamers will trust us, but I realize that trust is earned through actions, not through words,” he said. “So that’s why we have a policy of not commenting [on the specifics of the game] and raising hopes. We want to show our ambitions through our work, so we can’t ask for anything more than ‘give us a chance.'”

Babiebo went on to touch on how constructive feedback from the community has helped improve the game- though Bloober has also had to ensure that it remains true to its own vision and creative decisions as well.

“We tried to make all possible fans happy, but, at the same time, be very faithful to ourselves,” Babieno said. “I really hope that when people play for the first time, they will understand that the choices we made were the best possible.”

Interestingly enough, according to series producer Motoi Okamoto at Konami, it was thanks to Bloober Team that the upcoming remake has remained largely faithful to the original, with the original game’s staff who are involved with the remake having advocated for wider and more significant changes. Silent Hill 2 launches for PS5 and PC on October 8.
