Reviews have gone live for Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake, and the general critical consensus is very positive, as evidenced by the 87 Metascore on Metacritic. The launch trailer is also available, showcasing protagonist James Sunderland and his descent into the titular town. Check it out below.

James arrives after receiving a letter from his wife, Mary, who recently passed. Of course, it’s not long before he encounters all manner of horror in Silent Hill, from Bobblehead Nurses to the Flesh Lip (with the infamous Abstract Daddy also briefly showcased). Pyramid Head is perhaps the biggest threat, and James is determined to find Mary.

Of course, by the end, he seems to find acceptance as two Pyramid Heads menacingly emerge from the shadows. What could this mean? You’ll have to wait to find out (or play the original).

Silent Hill 2 remake launches on October 8th for PS5 and PC, with Deluxe Edition owners receiving access on October 6th. Head here for everything you should know.
