For all its macabre leanings, NeoBards’ Silent Hill f debuted a dazzling trailer last March. The setting of Ebisugaoka in 1960s Japan is a significant departure from the series, even if the series’ familiar fog. However, if you thought there was any direct connection to other titles, Konami has confirmed otherwise in a new tweet.

Translated from Japanese by DeepL, it reads, “This is a completely new title, independent of the series. It can also be played by those who have never played the Silent Hill series.” While it’s inviting for newcomers to the franchise, veterans shouldn’t expect characters like Silent Hill 2’s James Sunderland or Silent Hill 3’s Heather Mason to appear.

Though Silent Hill f is leveraging elements like the Otherworld, it’s also putting a new spin on them. Creative director Al Yang said creating an interesting Otherworld is “one of the big challenges,” especially when finding that “blend of new and nostalgic.” One key location is The Dark Shrine, which looks dignified yet seemingly brims with malice.

Silent Hill f is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, though a release date hasn’t been announced. Learn more about its explicit content here, though be warned that it’s extremely disturbing.
