Konami’s Silent Hill series has been dormant for a long while, but amidst relentless rumours and leaks talking about a revival for the franchise, every so often, some new developments rear their head to pour more oil on the fire.

Recently, for instance, as pointed out by a user on Reddit, it seems Konami recently applied for a handful of trademark renewals, for IPs like Tokimeki Memorial and Gradius- and, interestingly enough, Silent Hill.

It is worth noting that trademark renewals are a normal affair for big publishers to protect their IP, especially given that Konami still uses the Silent Hill name and characters in various media. Of course, they did let the game’s official domain lapse, so there’s that…

Then again, there have been plenty of rumours of a Silent Hill revival for some time now, so many will be hoping that this trademark renewal is a sign of things to come.
