Skyrim: 10 Things We Want To See In Dawnguard DLC

A Different Colour Palette

This kind of links in with the previous point, but it’s probably one of the things I most want to see in a new setting. I like the world of Skyrim a lot, but my word is it pale. So many whites and greys. The colour palette is so wintry, with snow everywhere. There are certainly a few areas that provide a more pleasing set of hues, but Skyrim feels much more monotone than the settings to Morrowind and Oblivion (though that may just be the nostalgia talking). Either way, a land not as covered in snow would be nice.

No DLC Spamming

No

I want Dawnguard to last me for a while. If a new DLC pack comes out within mere months of Dawnguard, it will just show us what little faith was placed in the first DLC. And yes, DLC also includes weapon packs and horse armour. Bethesda have a tendency to release lots of very minor content updates for their games, something that has never sat well with my bank balance. I’d rather wait a long time for a lengthy expansion than get 15 minutes of fresh content every other month.

A Hardcore Mode

Similar to the mode in New Vegas that turns the game into a survival simulator, it would be cool to see a mode that would force players to eat, drink and implore more survival tactics in their Elder Scrolls gaming. As long as it’s a mode you can take or leave, I’m sure the added content would be of interest to a large section of the Elder Scrolls fan base. Plus, it can’t be that hard to program if unofficial mods are already taking a crack at it. Show them how it’s done Bethesda!

Advanced Skill Trees

New skills is too big an ask, but new feats within existing skill trees would certainly keep us occupied

If you’re a Skyrim fan, the likelihood is that you’ve already partly destroyed Skyrim’s skill tree. A fair few people out there have also completely maxed every skill in Skyrim and, whilst they only make up a particular cross-section of Skyrim players, it would be pretty poor of Bethesda to not give them any new skills to fiddle with. Maybe adding new skills would be too big of a change, but at least adding new feats to unlock in the pre-existing skill trees would give us much more incentive to keep questing.
