Sega has released a new video celebrating the history of Sonic Racing games. The video, a collaboration between Sega and Sonic-focused YouTube channel Sam Procrastination, also manages to give us a look at some more of the race tracks that will be available in upcoming racing title Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Check out the video below.

As spotted by BlueSky user Tails’ Channel, the video reveals a few of the new race tracks that will be available in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, including Windmill Isle, Starlight Carnival, and Holoska. The trailer also gave us short glimpses at some of the vehicle customisation, as well as the fact that Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders will be returning in the title as well.

While unconfirmed so far, the trailer also hinted at the idea that we might see guest racers from other Sega franchises as playable characters in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as well. During the Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing parts of the video, quite a bit of emphasis was placed on the guest characters of the game, including Shenmue protagonist Ryo Hazuki, Jet Set Radio character Beat. The narrator also wonders if these guest characters will be returning for a rematch in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was first announced all the way back in December 2024. While the announcement trailer was quite short, it did also reveal that one of the playable characters will be Shadow the Hedgehog thanks to the character’s presence alongside his red-and-black kart. No release date has been announced for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds yet, but Sega has confirmed that the game will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Back in February, the title got its first gameplay trailer, showcasing transforming vehicles in the vein of Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing: Transformed, as well as the return of Extreme Gear. Some of the characters shown off in the trailer include, Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow. The trailer also focused on the time-traveling aspects of the game’s race tracks.

February also saw some closed network tests for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds being run. The PS5-exclusive network test indicated that the game might be relatively close to release. The test featured 6 tracks, five of the titular CrossWorlds, and 16 vehicles.

Here's some new screens from #SonicRacingCrossWorlds, featuring a look at the Extreme Gear, customization, and a glimpse at new stages, such as Starlight Carnival, Windmill Isle, Holoska, and more!#SonicNews
