With Keanu Reeves voicing fan-favourite character Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, excitement surrounding the movie is high, though that won’t be the only place where the Ultimate Lifeform will take centerstage. Later this year, Sega is set to release Sonic X Shadow Generations, an expanded remaster of its acclaimed 2011 3D platformer that will feature an entirely new campaign focused on Shadow the Hedgehog.
Since the remaster was announced earlier this year, however, Sega hasn’t said much else about it- though that might be about to change soon, as per prominent Sega and Atlus leaker Midori. When asked on Twitter if Sega will be sharing news on Sonic X Shadow Generations soon, the leaker simply replied “Yes.”
The next few weeks will bring several major showcases, including Xbox Games Showcase and Summer Game Fest, while a PlayStation event is also rumoured for some time this month, though it remains to be seen where Sega will show off the remaster again. The game is, of course, out this Fall for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC, so it would make sense to see an update – perhaps with a specific release date announcement – in the near future.
Last month, Sonic X Shadow Generations was also rated in South Korea, suggesting that it was edging closer to release, with news on the title potentially on the way.
Meanwhile, Midori has recently also claimed that Sega is soon going to announce Sonic Rumble, free-to-play mobile game inspired by Fall Guys. The leaker has previously also claimed that a sequel to Sonic Frontiers is in development.
