Sony Bend Studio, the developers of the Syphon Filter games and Resistance: Retribution, have posted a new job ad are now looking for an Associate Artist. Interestingly, the job ad drops certain hints about what might be the next project that Bend are currently working on, revealing a lot about what kind of visual prowess the studio wants the game to have.

The job ad is looking for a new associate artist, as mentioned above, to contribute to the “development of a AAA product”, and will have the job candidate “focus on creating environment/level assets utilizing a combination of traditional fine art and technical art skills.” Some of the responsibilities of the candidate are “creating and painting environment 2D texture maps, 3D modeling/sculpting, material setup/UV layout, shader setup and some lighting.”

There are some other qualifications Sony Bend has mentioned as job requirements. Some of them are to “model and texture 3D assets including props, collision and shadow proxies”, “create high quality color, normal, specular texture maps, and shaders”, “manipulate photo source and create realistic, tillable, textures that match the artistic style of the defined art direction” and “to analyze photo source or concept art and turn 2D images into 3D objects”.
