Sony explains why big AAA games for PS3 will be released next year

Posted By | On 24th, Jul. 2012

Sony’s world wide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, has mentioned that they are chasing the family market this holiday season and have postponed most big games like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls and God of War: Ascension to next year.

Each title needs time to develop, he revealed. The Last Guardian has been in development for 7 years now but according to a latest comment by Yoshida, he revealed that the game is in development and will be released eventually.

It’s being held back due to technical issues.

“We’d love to have multi-million sellers for the holiday. But each title needs time to develop. Especially new IP like The Last of Us. God of War has always come out in March, so that’s a natural time to aim at,” he told GameInformer.

“Our strategy for Christmas is to go big on family-friendly titles. This is a neglected genre for the PlayStation 3, but as it matures, I think it’s really important to have these games on the platform.”
