Sony Hiring For Unannounced AAA Project, The “Next Chapter of Cinematic Storytelling”

Sony seems to be setting up a new development team in partnership with the Visual Arts Service Group.

A bunch of new job listings that have gone up on PlayStation’s official careers page are suggesting something very interesting indeed- a new development team being set up by Sony in San Diego is looking to hire a number of people in various different positions to work on an unannounced AAA third person action adventure that is being described as “the next chapter of cinematic storytelling.”

The development team is being set up in collaboration with Visual Arts Service Group (VASG), a studio specializing in animation and motion and performance capture that has worked on projects such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, Death Stranding, and others. Interestingly enough, the project in question is also in collaboration with another one of Sony’s first party studios.

Reads the listing for Senior Gameplay Animator: “This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with a major Sony development studio. Though currently unannounced, we have a clear vision and plan to release. The new game development team will leverage our existing expertise and premier talent, guaranteeing a high visual quality bar for the title.” The listings for Senior Character Artist and Senior UI Programmer mention a lot of that as well. Additionally, a listing for a Senior Environment Artist has also been posted.

Given the vague manner in which the game in question is talked about, there’s no telling what exactly it might be. An emphasis on cinematic storytelling and set-pieces, as mentioned in several of the job listings, might suggest something like Uncharted, but then again, it could just as easily be something else entirely- maybe even a new IP. Given the timeframe, there’s a chance that this is also most likely a PS5 game- but the job listings themselves don’t make any mention of the platform.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we have any new info.
