After numerous job listings emerged on the Sony Computer Entertainment careers page for a newly established North West Studio in the UK, Sony confirmed to GameSpot that the new studio was established to create games for Project Morpheus, Sony’s proprietary PS4 VR headset. The studio is composed of former Evolution Studios team members who worked on DriveClub.
A Sony representative stated that, “We are dedicated to producing high quality experiences for Project Morpheus, and the creation of this studio allows us to build a small but highly experienced team who can utilize their skills to showcase this exciting new immersive technology.
“We always look to relocate staff throughout the studios, and this is no exception. The new team will be made up of a combination of Evolution staff members and new talent, with a focus on hiring the most highly experienced team possible.”
Sony does have plans to reveal games for Morpheus with hopes of E3 being the starting point. What can we expect from Morpheus, especially with Oculus Rift set to hold its own VR-based event before E3? Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
