Sony Reports “Most Successful Black Friday in Company History”

Company now trying to "benchmark against the success of PS2".

Black Friday this year turned out to be a very successful endeavour for both Microsoft and Sony. While the former reported a 22 percent increase in sales over the same period last year, the latter has revealed 2015’s Black Friday to be its most successful ever.

Speaking to the Financial Times (courtesy of Financial Review), global chief executive Andrew House stated that,“We’ve just seen the most successful Black Friday in the company’s history.

“We are now trying to benchmark against the success of the PlayStation 2 – or exceed it if possible.”

House was “hesitant to predict” whether the PS4 could eventually outsell the PS2 though since “the cadence at which people expect innovation” was quicker. Nonetheless, with 30 million units sold worldwide since its launch in November 2013, there’s no denying that the PlayStation 4 is one of the fastest selling consoles of all time.
