Sony has revealed that it shipped 6.4 million units for the PlayStation 4 in the third quarter of FY 2014. Its recent financial results revealed that it made an 89 billion yen profit. This was due to PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers above all.

Along with 6.4 million consoles shipped during this time, the PS4 also earned 147 million in game sales with the Game and Network Services division seeing increased sales and operating income over last year. Sales were up 16.8 percent overall thanks to network sales and foreign currency exchange rates.

There was a decline in hardware and software sales for the PS3 and Vita though the former still sold 1.1 million units in the same quarter. PS TV sales were below expectations.

Needless to say, Sony is on fire with the PlayStation 4 with 18.5 million units sold worldwide. What are your thoughts on the success of the PS4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.
