In a special episode of Pach Attack centered on the launch of the PlayStation 4 in North America, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter stated that the Sony’s target of selling 5 million consoles by March 2014 is “very realistic”.

“I think 5 million sell-through number is very realistic. And especially given that the Xbox One costs 100 bucks more, I think that you got to give Sony a nod for being faster out of the gate.”

If you hadn’t pre-ordered your console and are worried about a lack of supplies, then don’t worry. Pachter predicts that constraints on supply should lessen by January to February of 2014.

The PlayStation 4 is slated to release on November 15th in North America and on November 29th in Europe. In preparation for the US launch, update 1.50 for the console which, adds Remote Play functionality and much more, has gone live. You can download it now on to a USB stick and install it on the console from there.
