Insomniac Games may have Spider-Man coming up in September for the PlayStation 4 but that doesn’t mean it isn’t planning for the future. A recent job listing for a writer position at the studio provides a few bare hints at what could be coming next.

Candidates for the position will be working with the creative director, lead designer and other team members for developing characters, plot and key story-telling moments. Under the essential duties and responsibilities, however, the candidate will also write scripts for “in-game events” and coordinate with the development team for implementing them. Dialogue for “emergent gameplay events” is also required along with implementing “in-game moments to reinforce the story arc”.

There aren’t a lot of clues as to what exactly the developer has planned, whether it’s more downloadable story content or a full-fledged expansion for Spider-Man, a future game that focuses more on emergent gameplay and so on. However, the candidate will be developing cinematic scripts “with an emphasis on working within constraints” and there must be complete descriptions for various “scenes and characters (camera moves, facial expressions, sets, lighting, etc.)”. Experience with open world game structures and having shipped a triple A title as a writer are also required.

Regardless of whether it’s for Spider-Man or a brand new project (for which positions could be filled years in advance), it’s certainly intriguing. As for Spider-Man, the game launches for PS4 on September 7th.
