Square Enix has filed a lawsuit against some unknown Italian individuals, for hacking into Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s preview only copy, to be given to select press sites/magazines, and distributing it on the internet.

The hackers logged into the portal, using the details of an Italian press site without having taken permission from the previewers. When traced, their IP addresses were not connected to the Italian press site. The preview build of the game containing the first 10-12 hours of the game was the  leaked on the internet.

Square has filed a lawsuit against them, claiming  direct, contributory, and vicarious copyright infringement, claiming damages in excess of $5000, and is seeking a permanent injunction of copying and republishing against defendants, as well as actual and statutory damages, attorney’s fees and costs.
