At the latest quarterly call for investors, President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda stated that they will be making announcements about the release dates for new titles at some point between April 2018 and E3 which takes place in June, 2018.

Matsuda-san also spoke of how the company is able to efficiently work on remakes or overhauls of major titles. He stated, “I will say that we are facing less risk of having to engage in re-work thanks to the precision with which we are approaching our designs in the initial phase of each development project.” Furthermore, Matsuda-san spoke of the Nintendo Switch and stated that it’s a platform  “that is well suited to the mid-sized titles at which we excel.”

Additionally, Matsuda- san spoke about the prevalence of digital downloads and how it dominates the western market and stated that he believes “it will reach approximately 70-80%” of all game purchases.

It seems then that Square Enix will have an exciting year ahead with a number of new releases and announcements and it remains to be seen what surprises they have in store for us.
