Cloud Imperium’s Star Citizen, which began its life last year as a Kickstarter project that grew to astronomical levels of funding, has recently crossed $47 million in funding. Current funding stands at $47,068,746 thanks to 486,886 backers.

Founder Chris Roberts announced this achievement on the game’s website. “As always, thank you for your incredible support. We’re working hard to make Star Citizen a truly special game.” Total funding currently stands at $47,058,621 from 486,748 total backers.

Backers have unlocked the Tap Analyzer which can be used to view one’s engine in terms of the current output and energy draw numbers. A thirty eight piece omnitool can be used to access the engine for tweaking. At $49 million, backers will be able to receive the Xi’An Space Plant.

Star Citizen is currently slated to release in 2015 with various modules being released to the public (including the recent Dogfighting module). What are your thoughts on the game thus far? Let us know in the comments.
