Star Citizen 3.5

CitizenCon, a convention for all things Star Citizen, took place this weekend and Cloud Imperium Games revealed a bunch of new things for its upcoming space title. The biggest is perhaps the reveal of Pyro, the game’s second system which will require jump point mechanics. Check out the video below.

It seems that heading to Pyro will require a jump drive. The jump point itself is designed as “medium size” but it’s not clear if ship sizes will be factored in. Then there’s Planet Tech V4 which brings weather to the game and will affect how one’ ship flies. But wait there’s more – the highly anticipated Anvil Carrack ship has finally been revealed.

As a “military explorer” ship, it’s expected to fit a number of different roles. Most importantly, it can stay in space for extended periods of time and is capable of heading to new jump points. Check out the commercial for the ship below.

Finally, there’s Theatres of War, a 20v20 first person shooter game mode of combined arms. It’s objective based with multiple stages and features both flight combat and vehicles. The mode is currently in alpha and offers a more traditional Battlefield-esque flavor of gameplay for fans. It’s rough around the edges but still pretty epic.
