Star Oceans 5

Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness has finally received some screenshots, directly from the good people at Square Enix. Alongside the images, there’s a fair amount of information about the game too. Some of this information is about characters, plot points, abilities and locations.

The main male protagonist goes by the name of Fidel Camus, he is a 23 year old swordsman from the village of Stahl. His village resides in the Kingdom of Resuria on the planet Feikreed. Despite his age, he’s one of the most accomplish swordsmen in the land, inheriting his skills from his father.

The main female protagonist is Miki Sovesta, she too is from Stahl but is only 18 years of age. Rather than wielding the sword like Fidel, Miki makes use of a staff for her weapon. She views Fidel as an older brother and learned the healing magical arts thanks to the Art of the Cursed Mark.

This Art of the Cursed Mark is a specialised kind of magic which can be accessed by tattooing ones body with a certain mark. These marks grant greater powers dependent on their complexity, but take a great deal of skill to control.

Both Fidel and Miki live in a period known as the Seven Years of Darkness, an invasion from the Cursed Mark Creatures and warring countries constantly tears at the planet of Feikreed, a planet situated some 6000 light years from Earth.

The game world and the gameplay both transition seamlessly between each other with battles coming and going as you move between the several linked locations, be they old or futuristic in their design. The game makes use of a “seamless real-time battle” system that will alter your attacks depending on your distance from the enemy, combos can be used too.
