Star Wars: Battlefront II is almost upon us, and as its launch draws closer, we’ve started wondering important things about it. One of the questions we’ve had for a while is- how good will it look? And apparently, it will look very, very good. Digital Foundry recently got to play a hands-on section of the game running on a PS4 Pro at Gamescom, and we have some juicy tidbits of information for you.
The footage (you can see it through the link provided above) was pre-alpha, and the game was running on a PS4 Pro, and fans will be glad to know that it will run at a steady and gorgeous 60 frames per second. This is definitely good news, since the frame rate will be needed to keep up with the frantic and chaotic action on-screen, of which there seems to be plenty. Additionally, it doesn’t look like the game will be trying to run in 4K resolution, dynamic or not, as the footage in question was rendered at a resolution of 1080p. However, do note that this is a pre-alpha build and things can always improve in the final version.
The footage itself looked fantastic. The space battles look frantic and magnificent, and there’s everything from Star Destroyers to the Millennium Falcon to gawk at. Take a look at it for yourself. Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches in November for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more updates.
