The first and last official update we got on Star Wars: Knights of the Old – Republic was when it was announced a little over a couple of years ago. Last year, however, it was reported that the project had been indefinitely delayed and that developer Aspyr Media had been taken off the project, with subsequent reports claiming that Saber Interactive had stepped on to take the reins. However, it now seems the remake’s development has hit further roadblocks.
In fact, according to journalist Jeff Grubb, Star Wars: Knights of the Old – Republic is no longer in development whatsoever. Speaking during a recent episode of his Giant Bomb podcast Game Mess Mornings, Grubb said that development on the title has completely paused, even at Saber Interactive. According to him, at this point, the game is unlikely to ever see the light of day.
Embracer Group has, of course, been asked multiple times over the last couple of years about what the state of Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is, though the company has refused to comment on it (including as recently as earlier this week).
Back in September, the remake’s announcement was deleted from PlayStation’s official YouTube channel and Twitter page, though Sony claimed afterward that that was done due to music licensing issues.
