Days after reporting that the Star Wars franchise would receive a “big” announcement “very soon,” insider Kurakasis has alleged that its title ends with “The Old Republic.” Obviously, this has reignited hope that Saber Interactive’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake could re-emerge, and what better time than at The Game Awards on December 11th?
The insider previously said the announcement was unrelated to Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse or Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Zero Company. Aside from the KOTOR remake, the other obvious choice became Respawn’s third Star Wars Jedi title. Electronic Arts confirmed that it was in development back in September 2024, so it wasn’t impossible.
Is it possible that this announcement is related to MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic instead? Probably, but what could qualify as a “big” announcement? A sequel, perhaps? Time will tell.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake was first announced in September 2021 for PS5 and PC. Though originally in the works at Aspyr, Saber Interactive would later take over, with CCO Tim Willits confirming it would receive more details “when the time is right.” Check out leaked concept art showcasing the revamped look for Kashykkk.
