Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have announced an August release date for Star Wars Outlaws, following which pre-orders have gone live for the open world action-adventure title. With those pre-orders going live, new details have also emerged on the game’s physical version in particular.

As caught by VGC, apparently, even if you purchase a physical copy of Star Wars Outlaws, you will still require an internet connection to install the game. While it doesn’t look like the game itself well require a persistent online connection to be playable, you will need to connect to the internet once, in order to install the game. The same is confirmed via message on the game’s official box art, viewable on its official GameStop and Best Buy listings.

Massive Entertainment’s last game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – which released in December, did something similar, by requiring players to download a day one patch to be played offline. Ubisoft hasn’t yet why Star Wars Outlaws’ physical copies will require an online connection for installation.

Gold and Ultimate Editions have also been revealed for the game. Among other things (such as three days of early access), they will also include a Season Pass, which will give players access to two post-launch expansions that will bring new locations, story, and more.

Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out a developer breakdown of its recent story trailer through here for more details on its cast of characters, the criminal factions you’ll be crossing paths with, and more.
