EA Motive – the studio behind the single player campaign of Star Wars Battlefront 2 – started teasing a “very unique” Star Wars game it had been working on late last year, and theories about what the project could be started springing up almost immediately. A couple of months later, a leaked PlayStation Store listing spilled the beans on the game – tentatively called Project Maverick, as per said listing – and these past couple of weeks, rumours started swirling that the game would be officially unveiled soon.
Well, it’s happened. Over on Twitter, EA have officially unveiled the game. Though they couldn’t do it before a leak on the official Xbox site, they’ve officially announced Star Wars: Squadrons. A full reveal trailer for the game will be going live this Monday, June 15, at 8 AM Pacific Time. Reports have suggested that this is a flight and flight combat-focused game (Rogue Squadron fans, rejoice!), and the “pilots wanted” in EA’s tweet clearly suggests that as well.
Either, we’ll know more – as well as when the game will release and what platforms it will be coming to – on Monday, so stay tuned for all updates.
