State of Decay 2 received a full-fledged gameplay trailer yesterday at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, but after the official reveal of the Xbox One X, the question everyone wants to ask is just how well it will run on the upcoming system revision. Developers Undead Labs have given some high praise to the hardware, stating that its capabilities have allowed the game world of State of Decay 2 to come alive like never before.
In an interview with Geoff Keighley, Undead Labs founder Jeff Strain was asked about the Xbox One X and how it is allowing the development team to do more than previous console hardware allowed them to do. “Well, the big one for us is that the Xbox One X is considered part of a family of consoles,” Strain said. “So often, when you’re a developer, particularly a smaller developer like us, it’s very hard to support new hardware because you’re starting with a whole new install base.”
“With Xbox One X, we don’t have to make that choice,” he continued. “But it does give us a lot of new toys to play with, to scale the visual features and really make the game look spectacular. Obviously there’s the 4K element right off the bat, and then the HDR compatibility as well. We can really make this world come to life in a way that we weren’t able to before.”
State of Decay 2 is scheduled to be released in Spring 2018 for the Xbox One family and PC. You can watch its E3 2017 showing here. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on the game.
