A recorded voice line found in the game may have accidentally revealed one of four confirmed upcoming DLC characters for the looter shooter.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launched last week with four playable characters, but of course, as developer Rocksteady Studios has confirmed previously, plenty more are set to be added in the months to come. Of the four characters that are planned for the game in its first year, the first, The Joker, is set to arrive next month, and though the identities of the other three are currently unknown, it seems the game itself may have accidentally revealed one of them.

A user on Reddit recently shared a clip that shows them taking on Brainiac as Harley Quinn in a boss battle, during which a bug causes the antagonist to casually throw out the line, “I didn’t expect you to be the weak link in this chain, Freeze.”

That, of course, is a reference to infamous Batman villain Victor Fries, a.k.a. Mr. Freeze, and the presence of a recorded voice line directly referring to him in a game where, thus far, he has had no role to play would suggest that Rocksteady does plan on bringing him into the fold- presumably as a playable post-launch DLC character.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launched for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC last week, but the open world looter shooter has got off to a poor start. In addition to failing to attract a healthy audience on Steam, the game’s physical launch in the UK was also half as strong as that of 2021’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, another licensed superhero game that failed to sell well (though unlike Suicide Squad, it was well-received).

In our review of Suicide Squad, we gave it a score of 5/10, saying, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn’t the worst live-service title ever made, but its mediocrity is hard to deny, especially from a developer capable of so much more.” Read the full review through here.
