Summer Game Fest 2022

Summer Game Fest has already kicked off with last week’s State of Play presentation, but a proper kickoff to the week that’s replacing E3 this year will come with the Summer Game Fest Showcase on June 9, which is right around the corner. And what should we expect from it? To give a clearer idea exactly on that front, producer, creator, and host Geoff Keighley recently provided a bunch of answers on Twitter (via VGC).

For starters, Keighley says the showcase is going to be between and hour and a half to two hours long, though given the fact that it’s going to be a live event and will also feature guests, it’s hard to nail down the exact runtime.

As for what announcements to expect, there’s apparently plenty to look forward to. According to Keighley, you can expect everything from “massive” titles to indie games, as well as world premieres for unannounced games. Interestingly, however, he says the show is going to be “primarily focused” on games that have already been announced, and has also asked people to keep their expectations in check, remarking that some of the rumours he’s read about are “crazy.”

So far, games that have been confirmed to be making an appearance at the Summer Game Fest Showcase are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, The Callisto Protocol, Gotham Knightsand Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. Leaks have also strongly suggested that the likes of Marvel’s Midnight Suns and Saints Row will also show up, while there is some hope (as always) of Hollow Knight: Silksong making an appearance as well.

Interestingly, there’s been rumblings that Bloober Team’s rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake gets announced, especially given the fact that the Polish developer is specifically named among the developers and publishers that are partnered with Summer Game Fest this year. Then again, given Keighley’s warning about rumours and keeping expectations in check, it’s hard to be too hopeful.
