Microsoft’s Phil Spencer talked recently about how the company hasn’t forgotten about digital pre-orders for the Xbox One and that we’d see this feature coming soon. It seems that time may be closer than we thought as Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac Games has provided somewhat of an estimate.

Speaking on Sunset TV, community manager Brandon Winfrey talked about whether those who buy a digital version of the game would receive the Day One Edition’s content. “Yes, if you preorder the game digitally, you will get the Day One Edition content. You can’t preorder it digitally yet, but soon you will be able to.” Those who buy a digital copy of the upcoming open world shooter will also apparently receive a “nifty gifty exclusive.” No, that’s not a typo.

Sunset Overdrive will be out on October 28th for the Xbox One. It’s possible the feature is introduced right before October to take advantage of the deluge of games releasing around then. Will you be taking advantage of digital pre-ordering on the Xbox One? Let us know in the comments.
