Super Mario Run Downloaded 10 Million Times Worldwide at Launch – Report

About 10 times more than Pokemon GO at launch.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Run has apparently been very successful. Research firm App Annie noted that the iOS title was downloaded 3.5 million times in the United States alone on launch day and it’s recently updated reports to reveal even bigger numbers.

Super Mario Run managed more than 10 million downloads on release day, which is 10 times higher than Pokemon GO’s launch. It also seems that 20 million people hit the “Notify” button on the game in the App Store, thus “pre-registering” themselves in a sense. On the whole, Super Mario Run earned $4 million in revenue for its first day.

Despite the positive download numbers, Super Mario Run caused quite the stir due to the fact that it’s always online. Nintendo clarified that this was due to leaderboard support and also for security measures. What are your thoughts on the game thus far though? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates.
