Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. saw some pretty stellar sales when it released on the 3DS but the Wii U version is no exception. According to Nintendo of America, the Wii U version is now the fastest selling Wii U game of all time in the United States. It sold 490,000 units from November 21st to 23rd in both the physical and digital domain, beating out Mario Kart 8’s record.
Nintendo of America executive Scott Moffitt believes the Wii U is “off to a great start” for the Holidays even though “there’s a lot of work left to do.” It also seems that there are “a few more surprises” for fans to arrive in the coming months.
The Wii U has seen a venerable uprising this year with high quality titles like Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. and Hyrule Warriors releasing. What are your thoughts on the success of Smash Bros. though? Let us know in the comments.
