Another weekend, another Spirit Board event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players to sink their teeth into. This weekend’s event will be doing things a bit differently though, focusing more on Spirits from specific retro titles. The event will start on January 3rd, 10 PM PST/January 4th, 1 AM EST and will be available until January 6th, 10 PM PST/January 7th, 1 AM EST.
According to an official tweet from the game’s Japanese Twitter, spirits from the NES and Famicom Desk System era will be the focus. The attached image features Donkey Kong and Lady from Donkey Kong, Excitebike, Stanley from Donkey Kong 3, Bubbles and Unira from Clu Clu Land, and many more.
Winning against the target Spirits also provides more snacks than usual. These snacks can be used to level up your current roster, so even if none of the event’s Spirits interest you, there’s still plenty of incentive to play. Those seeking some meatier content, like new characters, should sit tight. Persona 5’s Joker was announced as the first post-launch DLC fighter at The Game Awards 2018, and is included with the Fighters Pass. However, a release date for his inclusion is still unknown at this time.
