We’ve had plenty of high-profile exclusives launching this season, but Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which lands in December, is probably a class apart. Not only is it the follow-up to a beloved franchise, but is looking to be a complete package in its own right. The latest trailer encapsulates this perfectly, promising “more fighters, more battles, more fun”.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, much like its predecessors, is a crossover fighting game featuring tons of Nintendo characters. Plenty of non-Nintendo characters also make an appearance, like Cloud Strife, Bayonetta, and Solid Snake. This iteration significantly ups the ante, featuring Spirits that can provide bonuses to fighters, and a new campaign called World of Light.

Nintendo is also making hundreds of quality of life changes to the multiplayer and matchmaking, among other things. That’s not counting the sheer number of stages, Assist Trophies, alternate outfits, and more that are coming as well. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on December 7th for Nintendo Switch.
