Supergiant Games’ Hades Announced, Available in Early Access

In an interesting twist, the title is available in Early Access only on the Epic Games Store.

Bastion and Transistor developer Supergiant Games has been rather quiet since releasing its fantasy sports RPG hybrid Pyre in 2017. That’s because the studio has been busy plugging away on its next title – Hades, an isometric hack and slash combat title. Check out the reveal trailer below.

Hades sees the player attempting to defy death, fighting through the Underworld in an attempt to escape. It’s a rogue-like dungeon crawler, in that players will encounter different characters, receive new abilities, and must survive different obstacles in their path. Die and you start from the beginning.

Interestingly, Hades is available right now in Early Access. However, it’s currently in Early Access only for the recently launched Epic Games Store at $19.99. Supergiant Games stated that it’s a “living game in active development” and that regular updates with new features, events, characters, and more should be expected. What does that mean for a potential console release? Time will tell, but this is certainly an interesting move for the developer.
