Daedalic Entertainment's recent The Lord of the Rings game has been universally panned, but it seems the studio isn't done with the property yet.
The MMO is in early development at Amazon Games Orange County and features the stories of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The Embracer Group confirms there will be five new The Lord of the Rings game releases between April 2023 and March 2024.
"We wouldn’t acquire the brand of Lord of the Rings if we were just thinking to maximise that potential over the coming year," says CEO Lars Wingefors.
The Embracer Group has acquired the cross-media IP rights for The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and other Middle-earth-related works.
The publisher announces that it's partnering with Weta Workshop "to publish a new game set in the literary Middle-earth universe of J.R.R. Tolkien."
