The publisher will instead participate in showcases like the PC Gaming Show as it explores "opportunities to share updates."

With all the announced showcases, including regulars like the Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase, what’s going on with Ubisoft? It usually hosts a new Ubisoft Forward in June, but not this year.

A representative for the company told Game File’s Stephen Totilo that the showcase wasn’t happening. Instead, it will participate in the upcoming IGN Live and the PC Gaming Show. “We are always eager to connect with our players and showcase our games…We are continuing to explore opportunities to share updates, and we look forward to providing more information at a later date.”

This means that Assassin’s Creed Shadows could reveal its upcoming June update at the PC Gaming Show. Whether we’ll learn more about other content coming this year, including the Claws of Iwaji expansion, remains to be seen. Rumors indicate the open-world action RPG will receive at least two years of post-launch support, including a co-op mode next year.

Of course, Ubisoft has other titles in the works, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Anno 117: Pax Romana, The Division Resurgence, and Rainbow Six Mobile. All these will launch by March 31st, 2026, so expect appearances at other showcases or standalone announcements.

From Summer Game Fest to the Xbox Games Showcase, from the imminent State of Play to another Nintendo Direct, there’s no shortage of major summer events to look forward to in the coming days and weeks, and as tends to be the case most years, Ubisoft is going to be involved in the proceedings as well. The company previously announced that it would be returning with another live Ubisoft Forward showcase on June 10, and now, exact timings for the event have been confirmed.

Taking to Twitter, Ubisoft has confirmed that on June 10, its Ubisoft Forward showcase will go live at 12 PM Pacific. How long the showcase will be remains to be seen, but as confirmed previously by Ubisoft, you can expect showings for the likes of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, XDefiant, The Division Resurgence, and more.

Earlier this month, Ubisoft confirmed that it will also be attending Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany in August. Read more on that through here.

Ubisoft will also provide updates on Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence and XDefiant at its June 10th showcase.

Ubisoft has provided extensive updates on its upcoming titles for the fiscal year, primarily Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws. In its full-year 2023-24 earnings release, the publisher confirmed that both titles would receive “updates” at Ubisoft Forward on June 10th.

Other titles slated to appear at the showcase include Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence, and XDefiant (which launches next week). While it didn’t specify what the updates entail, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will reportedly receive a gameplay reveal, followed by hands-on impressions from journalists and content creators on June 12th.

Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Resurgence could receive release dates, while XDefiant’s future maps and characters may be revealed. Of course, there’s room for unexpected announcements, perhaps relating to future titles like Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 and Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. Ubisoft may also finally provide an update on its co-op shooter Project U. Stay tuned for more updates next month.

Assassin's Creed Mirage and The Crew Motorfest will also have live reveals when the showcase airs on June 12th at 10 AM PDT.

After skipping out on E3 2023 shortly before its cancellation, Ubisoft will host a dedicated showcase this month. Ubisoft Forward returns on June 12th at 10 AM PDT, and a new trailer confirms live reveals for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and The Crew Motorfest. Check it out below.

However, there’s another unannounced title which will seemingly be present. The publisher previously said it had a “large” game releasing before April 2024, so this could be it. Rumors claim it’s Ubisoft Massive’s unnamed Star Wars title, though it’s reportedly not making good progress and releasing in this fiscal year is too ambitious. Still, it could make an appearance.

One thing is for sure – we won’t be seeing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, which has suffered delays and is currently in the conception stage. Other titles that could potentially appear include XDefiant, Skull and Bones, Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Heartland. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

The company has decided "to move in a different direction." It will share more details on the live showcase "very soon."

Nintendo and Xbox have already backed out of E3 2023, which is taking place in Los Angeles this June. It’s now the turn of Ubisoft that won’t attend, despite earlier confirming its presence. In a statement to VGC, it decided to “move in a different direction” and will host a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12th in LA.

“E3 has fostered unforgettable moments across the industry throughout the years. While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12th in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.”

Organizer ReedPop, which is in charge of organizing the show this year over the Entertainment Software Associated, has yet to comment on this turn of events.

Ubisoft previously promised a “strong lineup” for E3 2023, but following rumors of delays for Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew: Motorfest, it remains to be seen if plans changed. As such, Mirage should get a gameplay reveal along with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (which may also get a release window). Who knows? Skull and Bones could also appear to announce another release date before its next inevitable delay. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Those who love "immersing themselves in the past" can jump in "and never be interrupted or need to know who Desmond and Layla are."

There’s plenty to break down with Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which isn’t a game so much as a “hub” connecting all past and present experiences. This includes upcoming titles like Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and HEXE along with Invictus, a standalone multiplayer experience. One big change is that the modern-day setting is decoupled from the upcoming titles and instead confined to Infinity.

Project leader Marc-Alexis Côté told IGN, “People who love just immersing themselves in the past will be able to jump right in there and never be interrupted or need to know who Desmond and Layla are.” This means you can enjoy the historical settings as their own stories, though whether all main games will take place in the past alone remains to be seen.

As for how the modern-day story will play out in Infinity, and whether there would be a protagonist, Côté said, “The way we tell the story will evolve with time. It’s something that we’re doing for the long term, not for the short term. But the abstraction that we want people to have is [Infinity] is your Animus. It is your DNA explorer on your desktop. You are the main story character.”

Elements like codex entries will thus move over to Infinity. “We used to have an encyclopedia in our games. But to make it feel coherent, like something that always grows through time as you explore the past, [the encyclopedia] would be something that would be in the Infinity hub.”

The approach is good news for fans complaining about the modern-day story stalling since the Desmond Miles arc. How Assassin’s Creed Infinity connects everything while still presenting its narrative remains to be seen. As such, we’ll have to wait a while to see it – no release date is confirmed and the first title, RED, is reportedly out in 2024.

"It is still the same games that we were building, but bridged together in the Infinity hub," says project leader Marc-Alexis Côté.

At the recent Assassin’s Creed Showcase contained within the Ubisoft Forward showcase, the publisher finally confirmed what Assassin’s Creed Infinity is. As it turns out, it’s not a game per se but a hub that will link future Assassin’s Creed titles. What does this mean? IGN spoke to project leader and Assassin’s Creed VP executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté about the same, who provided some clarification.

In a nutshell, Infinity is “a home for a variety of games of different genres and lengths.” Premium boxed titles, like the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and Codename HEXE, along with paid and free content will be mixed. Ubisoft will also add a multiplayer mode that will “unite the franchise’s eras.” Of course, the modern-day setting’s story will also play out within Infinity.

Infinity isn’t replacing the traditional Assassin’s Creed titles (as seen when Ubisoft emphasized that Codename RED was its next “premium flagship game”). “You can absolutely buy [Codename RED] as a box product. But the first thing that you’ll see [when you boot it up] is the Infinity [hub] that makes it coherent. But you can buy [Infinity’s second game] HEXE separately as well.

“This is how we envision things today. So it is still the same games that we were building, but bridged together in the Infinity hub. And obviously, if you’re in the Infinity hub playing RED, you’ll see HEXE come and be available as a memory that you can explore.”

Think of it as an Animus interface but in video game format which acts as a library for all of your Assassin’s Creed experiences (a separate launcher even). New entries aren’t displayed as games but as DNA memories. Of course, while it may appear to be a launcher, Infinity at launch won’t be the final version and will also evolve.

“So [Infinity] will not start out as a game. The version of Infinity that we launch will not be the final version of Infinity. It’s something that will evolve through time as our experiences grow, and we can connect them more together. So I think it opens up a world of possibilities as to what we can do that go far beyond being just a launcher for our different games,” says Côté.

There is currently no launch window for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Codename RED or Codename HEXE. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that RED and HEXE aren’t expected until at least 2024. Insider Tom Henderson followed up by reporting that RED would release sometime in 2024, while HEXE was initially planned for 2025 but now releasing in 2026.

In the meantime, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release in 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.

Ubisoft also confirmed that Assassin's Creed Infinity is a hub that will connect all of the different experiences, including Red and Hexe.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage isn’t the only new title in the series coming up in the future. The company also announced Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the next flagship premium title in the series. As the “future” of the series’ open-world RPG games, it’s developed by Ubisoft Quebec and set in Feudal Japan where players will live out their shinobi fantasies.

Of course, that’s not all. Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe was also announced, developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Though it wasn’t explicitly confirmed, a twana in the shape of an Assassin’s Creed logo was revealed along with a hex symbol, meaning it’s focused on witches. Insider Tom Henderson reported that the title’s setting is 16th century Europe during the witch trials, but we’ll need to wait for more details.

Finally, Ubisoft confirmed what Assassin’s Creed Infinity is – not a game per se but a hub that connects all of the different experiences. The developer is also looking to add standalone multiplayer experiences to the hub, though how this will work remains to be seen. Codename Red and Codename Hexe are included in Infinity’s hub, and allegedly won’t be out until at least 2024.

Set in ninth century Baghdad, the story follows a younger Basim before the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla as he joins the Hidden Ones.

Following numerous leaks, including the cover art, Ubisoft finally showcased Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Set in Baghdad, it focuses on a younger Basim, 20 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Starting as a thief, he joins the Hidden Ones and becomes an Assassin. Check out the cinematic trailer below.

Historical figures will appear in the story, but no specific individuals have been confirmed.
There’s also a Collector’s Case to pre-order with its own bonuses. Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches in 2023 for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna, but no specific release window was confirmed.
All three titles will be available exclusively on the streaming platform with no ads or in-app purchases on Android and iOS devices.

At Ubisoft Forward, the publisher announced a tie-up with Netflix to bring three new games to the streaming service. One of these is Valiant Hearts 2, a follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed Valiant Hearts: The Great War that’s being developed by the same core team.

The second is Mighty Quest 2, which seems to be a sequel to The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. The free-to-play action RPG first launched in 2015 for PC and featured dungeon crawling, castle building, and attacking other players. It ended services in October 2016 but would subsequently release for Android and iOS mobiles in 2019.

Finally, a new Assassin’s Creed title will also come to the service and receive a new live-action series. No word yet on whether this is the rumored Project Jade set in China. All three titles will be playable with no ads or in-app purchases. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully some gameplay in the coming months.
