XDefiant

After multiple delays and recent reports of development issues, Ubisoft said that the release date for XDefiant would finally be unveiled soon, and soon is finally here. The company has announced that the free-to-play multiplayer shooter will be launching later this month, on May 21.

XDefiant will go live with its pre-season, which will last six weeks, before the game kicks off its seasonal cadence of post-launch updates. Upon release, the game will have five modes, 14 maps, five factions (one of which will be unlockable), and 24 weapons. Additionally, a Ranked Mode Practice Playlist will also be available, featuring 4v4 versions of all modes except Hot Shot.

Here’s the full list of the modes, maps, and factions the game will launch with:

Factions:

  • Echelon
  • Phantoms
  • Cleaners
  • Libertad
  • Dedsec (after unlocking or purchasing)

Maps:

  • Arena
  • Attica Heights
  • Dumbo
  • Echelon HQ
  • Emporium
  • Liberty
  • Mayday
  • Meltdown
  • Midway
  • Nudleplex
  • Pueblito
  • Showtime
  • Times Square
  • Zoo

Modes:

  • Domination
  • Hot Shot
  • Occupy
  • Escort
  • Zone Control

XDefiant’s pre-season will last six weeks, as mentioned above, following which the game will receive a new season of content every three months. In its first year, across four seasons, the game will add four factions, 12 maps, and 12 weapons, in addition to new modes, ranked and private matches, practice zones, and more.

XDefiant will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Last year, Ubisoft said the game would eventually also be arriving for PS4 and Xbox One, though there’s no word yet on whether that’s still the plan.
