With the release of a demo for Bandai Namco’s Tales of Arise, fans of the series can finally see how the game looks and performs. It’s pretty good for the most part – on Xbox Series X and PS5, Graphics Mode targets 4K/60 FPS while Performance Mode runs at 1620p/60 FPS. On Xbox Series S, Performance Mode delivers 1080p/60 FPS while Graphics Mode is at 1440p and offers around 45 FPS of performance.

According to a comparison done by ElAnalistaDeBits on YouTube, Performance Mode indeed provides a solid 60 FPS performance on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 (with a few drops here and there). However, in Graphics Mode, the Xbox Series X is ahead of the PS5 with frame rates averaging at 50 FPS and sometimes dropping into the higher 40 FPS range. The PS5 version averages about 45 to 50 FPS and drops into the lower 40 FPS range. On average, the Xbox Series X version’s frame rate performance is 15 FPS higher on average compared to the PS5 with the most pronounced drops on both platforms being in combat.

Keep in mind that this is a demo and represents a work-in-progress. We’ll have to wait and see how the full game pans out in terms of performance across all platforms. If you are keen on trying the demo though, then the Xbox Series X version is the clear winner.

Tales of Arise is out on September 10th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PC and PS5.
