Team Fortress 2

Valve’s Team Fortress 2 will finally be receiving competitive playlists and matchmaking. Yes, after all these years.

The developer is currently planning out a beta test for the competitive mode which will have different phases. The first phase will be out next week and you’ll need a Competitive Matchmaking Beta Pass. You’ll receive this if you purchased Team Fortress 2 before June 2013 or purchased something from Mann Co. Store. Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator is also required and a phone number has to be set up with your account. It’s not yet known how long it will take for competitive matchmaking and playlists to roll out for all players.

Thus far Team Fortress 2 has only had server play. The addition of competitive play should be interesting considering the age of the game. What are your thoughts on the game finally receiving competitive options? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.
