Team Ninja Confirms Ninja Gaiden Sequel in the Works

A new Ninja Gaiden is coming. But will it be any good?

While Team Ninja and Comcept’s Keiji Inafune may be collaborating collectively to work on Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z developed by Spark Unlimited, for current-gen platforms the core Ninja Gaiden series will be seeing a follow-up as well in the coming months.

In a new video discussion, Inafune stated that, “Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden. For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z would be dessert.

“Every course of the meal would be in the same Ninja Gaiden world, but gamers will experience different kinds of play. That’s how Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be different.”

Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi apparently “let it out” that Team Ninja is developing a sequel to Ninja Gaiden. “So to the people waiting for that next Ninja Gaiden, it’s coming.”

After the dismal Ninja Gaiden 3, will it signal a return to form for the series? And will it be on next gen consoles? We’ll need to wait in the coming year to find out.
