The third major Sonic racing game, following in the wake of the widely beloved Sonic and Sega: All Stars Racing Transformed was going to be Team Sonic Racing. And it was originally supposed to come out this year. However, it seems as though that won’t be happening, as Sega has announced a very substantial delay for the game.
Instead of launching next month, the game will now be coming out on May 21, 2019, which is six months later. Sega has been pretty honest about why the game has been delayed, saying that they want to focus on getting the game to be the best it can be. Which is fair, of course, I don’t begrudge them that, and early impressions to the game have been fairly mixed. The issue, of course, is that if the game is in a state that such a substantial delay is needed in the eleventh hour—then can any delay actually fix it up?
We’ll find out when the game ultimately launches on May 21, 2019 for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Hey guys! To make Team Sonic Racing the best game it can be, we’re giving the team extra time to work on it. Our new release date is May 21, 2019.
We know delays are no fun, but quality matters most. Thanks for your patience – we’ve got more to show you for TSR very soon!
